Sociologist in training

I am a B2B marketing professional based in Sydney.  I have worked across the private sector, non-profit and Government and enjoy using  my commercial orientation and marketing expertise for social good. I was researching BMW design capabilities for a recent campaign and came across the notion that behind every great idea there is an intelligent question. I’m definitely someone with a lot a questions! But with that comes a lot of ideas.

My passion to explore social behaviour was enhanced through undertaking my Post graduate Certificate in Policy and Applied Social Research which I started in 2012.  This has helped my social research skills which are also vital as a marketer to research and to understand consumer behaviour.  I am passionate about sociology as it discusses the world in which we live with a skew toward driving social good.

I also studied society & culture in high school, electing to do a major work on whether money buys us happiness… I went on to study Business with a major in Marketing (after hoping to get into social science!), aka the science of selling.  I really enjoyed Business Ethics and my essay about Joel Bakan’s ‘The Corporation’ received a high distinction.  I highly recommend watching and/or reading The Corporation http://www.thecorporation.com/index.cfm?page_id=23
